YONEX German Ruhr Internationals return to their traditional October slot in 2026

The YONEX German Ruhr Internationals for the U15, U17, and U19 age groups will once again take place at their traditional date in October this year. Following a one-time rescheduling last year, players and fans can now look forward to the tournament returning to its usual timeframe.

In 2025, the event had to be moved to the week before Christmas due to exceptional circumstances. The reason was a lack of hotel capacity caused by a major trade fair taking place in Düsseldorf at the same time. This situation posed a particular challenge for both the organizers and the participating nations.

All the more pleasing is that the overall conditions—and ultimately the decision of the Badminton World Federation (BWF)—now allow the event to be held again in autumn this year. The internationally established junior tournament is therefore not only returning to its usual schedule, but also offering optimal conditions for all involved.

Grün-Weiß Mülheim is delighted to once again welcome numerous international talents to the Ruhr region in October and to experience a top-class badminton event together at the well-known Westenergie Sporthalle from October 7 to 11, 2026. According to the current status, the BWF World Junior Team Championships are planned for the week prior. However, there is currently no host, after Indonesia returned the event.

It is still under discussion whether the U15 competition will begin on Thursday or Friday.
